It all starts with our specialty breeds of choice. We have selected heritage breeds, not found commercially, that thrive in an open pasture setting, foraging on what nature gives them.

Our heritage breed turkeys, Bourbon Reds, are a beautiful reddish brown and white color. They grow slower, on a more natural curve than traditional turkeys, finishing with more natural nutrient density than fast growing commercial chickens.

Our birds freely roam our pastures, foraging for bugs and grubs in the soil.  We move them to new pastures daily so that they get the best forage possible.

We supplement their natural diet with a high quality Non-GMO grain mix from Modesto Milling.

We make sure our turkeys stay on our farm their whole lives.  Almost every producer in today's market, supermarkets and small farms alike, ship their animals off far away when it is time to harvest.  We take the welfare of our animals very seriously and treat them the best that we can.

Our livestock are raised without the use of antibiotics, steroids, and added growth hormones.

What will shipping cost?  For this bundle you can expect a shipping cost of approximately $20-$25.  We get special rates from UPS.  We pack everything for you with insulated boxes and ice packs to ensure everything stays frozen and ship guaranteed overnight for the highest quality.

When will I receive my turkey?   We are planning on shipping the 2nd week of November. We will keep you updated and provide an estimated pick-up/delivery date as soon as it’s available.

Thank you for supporting our small ranch, connecting with our customers is very important to us!

Halli and Michael,

Old Oak Pastures

HOW OUR MEATS COMPARE:

Animal Welfare

We do not transport animals to off-site slaughter facilities. Instead, we harvest them directly on the pasture they've known since birth (or since their arrival to our farm). We prioritize low-stress, humane handling techniques for all our animals during every interaction. This approach allows us to reduce stress and honor the animals by keeping them in a familiar, comfortable environment throughout their lives.

Regenerative Practices

We rotationally graze our animals so that no animal is in the same paddock for more than a week with some moving every day! This gives them the best forage possible and helps regenerate the land, keeping it as natural as possible and proliferating wild species and habitat. Many commercial ranch operations reduce the land to barren dirt lots that can take decades to recover. We do not utilize any pesticides or chemical treatments on our pastures to assist in allowing the microbiology of the soil to thrive.

Hormone and Chemical Free

We do not administer any type of hormone or chemical for growth enhancement on our animals. This keeps our products as healthy as possible for the families that support us and our environment. This can help prevent soil and water pollution that harms humans and wildlife, introducing synthetic hormones into the environment through agricultural runoff.

Heritage Breeds

We emphasize slower growing animal breeds to allow a more natural growth rate for optimal health of the animals. Many modern commercial breeds of animals have been genetically bred to grow as fast as possible, causing respiratory and skeletal health problems that shorten their life span, require unnecessary medications, and disallow their mobility to enjoy a true free range pasture.

Nutrient Density

Studies are finding that pasture raised animals have more nutrients than commercially raised animals. Pasture-raised pork can have up to twice as much vitamin E as grain-fed pork." Pasture-raised chicken has more iron and zinc than grain-fed chicken. Pasture-raised animals have higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, essential for heart health and reducing inflamation. Pasture-raised chicken has 15% more collagen than conventional chicken, supporting joints, bones, and skin.

Single Origin Source

Each product comes from one animal and one animal only from our farm in Buellton, CA. This gives our customers confidence, quality control, and know your farmer mentality that is a lost art in today's market. Every time you shop in a regular grocery store, even if you opt for grass-fed or organic, you're likely purchasing meat that comes from a blend of around 15 different animals.

Did up 4 chops last night!! Salt pepper and garlic powder!! It is amazing!! My guests were blown away!!❤️🤤🤤 I smoked the Ham Hock for 7 hrs!! F****** dope!! It truly is the best pork I've had!! For the Whole Chicken I did a simple rosemary pepper rub with a butter basting…INCREDIBLE! Absolutely incredible.

  • Karen Stokes, Chicken Customer. Buellton, Ca

We are Privileged to have access to a local chicken farm for pasture raised chicken. Compared to a free range chicken National Brands, Old Oak Pastures chicken had depth, bolder flavor, a springy smoky chew, skin crisped easier and the flesh came off the bone readily! Such a treat that we never knew we needed! Keep up the great work Halli and Michael!

  • Harvey Pollack, Whole Hog Customer Pasadena, Ca

  • Jackie Grove, Chicken Customer. Long Beach, Ca
